River walks along the Ouse

The River Ouse flows through the centre of the city. You can walk to the river path from 23 St Mary's in less than 5 minutes and enjoy the wonderful scenery and architecture of our unique city. Sit on the banks and enjoy the calm whilst watching the boats go by, or stroll along the water's edge into the centre of town - thr choice is yours!

Having been awarded a Michelin star for their wonderful North Yorkshire restaurant in Oldstead, Tommy opened a second fine dining experience just around the corner from 23 St Mary's. We are pleased to be able to recommend Roots to our guests for a truly special and memorable evening. And at the end of your trest, it's not even a 5 minute walk through the quiet streets of Marygate to get back to the comfort and warmth of your very own room at 23 St Mary's.

York Minster - a 10 minute walk from 23 St. Mary's

Straight from our front door you can wander through the gotgeous Museum Garden to the magnificent York Minster. It is the largest Gothic Cathedral in Northern Europe, renowned for containing the largest collection of medieval stained glass in England and is a pure classic of the period. Five hundred and eighteen feet in length, it is two hundred and forty one feet wide at the transept and its central tower rises one hundred and ninety eight feet making it the largest lantern tower in Britain.
